My Dear Facebook friends December 31, 2011

I’m still so surprised by the way people use social networks, Facebook in specific. Obviously some spend their time here, in this useless quest of “famosity”. I like it, I like it, I like it… Of course I use it, it helps me to reach people I don’t know : my new Facebook friends. Rarely for some personal matters.

I remember a question I saw buzzing in France recently: “What would you do if Internet would not exist?”. I hope social networks is learning people how to behave better interacting towards each other, and the answer would be: “Spend more time with my friends. My real friends”.

In the meantime, this is something you guys should buy to be in a perfect fit with your favorite activity.

As a developer, you must not ignore now what Oauth is. Just few things to remind or explain what it is…

News: OurBricks 3D API from Katalabs August 1, 2011

OurBricks is a site for sharing 3D models and allows you to preview directly in your browser with WebGL.
The Team wanted to enable users to interact with the site through an API, so they added a few simple methods.

Search: you can retrieve the most recent models uploaded to the site, or search through the title, description and tags of models in their database. The results are presented in JSON format.
Upload: if you have an API key (they currently giving these out on
request), you can upload to the site on behalf of a user after authenticating with OAauth.

Plus for specialists…
The documentation for their API is here:
https://github.com/ourbricks/ourbricks-api-examples/wiki/API-Documentation
They have a sample plugin for Blender that allows you to import and export from OurBricks without leaving Blender:
https://github.com/ourbricks/ourbricks-blender
This plays onto the idea of having a universal API that all 3Dapplications can speak.

OurBricks  is powered by Katalabs.

Too much personal stuffs here so I need to balance a bit 😉

I can’t assure a 100% it’s all true, but I thought this view on Steve Jobs carreer so far was of some interest. Let me know what you think.

And whatever you think, my opinion is that he’s a Grand Monsieur. He change people’s attention on technology like (almost) no one, on a product point of view. Such a character!
