Mobile Monday Shangai: Mobile Gaming session! August 24, 2007Posted by Phil Jeudy in Gaming, Wireless.
Mobile Gaming is a very popular topic at the moment…This industry is still show by analysts as a fast growing business (which is not true on my opinion)…could be described (sometimes) as very funny…but mainly new and still experiencing the very begining of its story!
Shangai is unfortunately too far for me but I will look after the coming session organised on August 27th with Futuremark, Fugumobile and Glu (US company, in big development at the moment but still n°3 behind EA and Gameloft…).
The event description mentions “In the wake of the Game Developers Conference ’07 held from August 27th to 29th at Shanghai International Convention Center, Mobilemonday Shanghai aims at bringing a condensed of the latest gaming trends in China and elsewhere, from the advent of casual games sweeping the market, to the future of high-end games highly leveraging on 3D and broadband connection, we will also be addressing new business models (ad-funded games, an increasingly popular model in Asia) and Flash-based games, a new “menace” to traditional Java and Symbian gaming developers”
I am very surprised by the fact Flash games have not yet being in marketplace (my friend Philippe Chassany would be more than happy…) and I truly believe on its potential…but it takes many time!
Smartphones and games developed on Windows Mobile, Symbian, Ajax🙂 and so one are (too me) the real potential of the industry and would suit to a mass market need…since a free access to web on mobile will be proposed (should we wait Wifi and Wimax to create the expected revolution?)…but not 3D based on J2ME…
Another Mobile Monday to come very soon about mobile gaming…and much more closed🙂 .
